What you can achieve

  • Review client specifications and drawings to assess project requirements.
  • Create details, assemble mechanical drawings, and outline testing procedures based on the assessment of the project requirements using software.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements throughout the design of the product and specify all the safety guidelines for the client.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager, Head of Engineering, and team to assess and determine the most efficient and cost-effective method to construct the product.
  • Work closely with the Electrical Engineering Team to capture all the electrical components of the project.
  • Follow and meet the project road map and milestones to ensure the project is delivered to the client within the agreed upon deadline and communicate openly with the Project Manager when concerns arise regarding the achievement of the milestones.
  • Address any problems, or potential problems, with the Head of Engineering along with potential solutions/options.
  • Research and identify the most suitable and cost-effective material required to construct the project and bring forward the bill of material (BOM) to the Head of Engineering for approval within company standards.
  • Draft pneumatic schematics drawings to capture all elements and material requirements to construct the product.
  • Communicate the assembly instructions to the Technician Team and provide additional clarification throughout the process when needed.
  • Troubleshoot any production and/or testing issues/challenges that are related to the functionality and material of the product.
  • Support the Sales Team by providing drawings, when requested, for sales meetings with current and/or potential clients.
  • Visit client sites to assess project requirements or commission equipment on-site when the need arises.

Why you will succeed

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in mechanical design, CAD software, or related areas would be beneficial.
  • At least (5) years of experience in a similar position and industry.
  • Demonstrated experience using Office Suite, Electrical Design Software.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals (specifications and codes), design principles and codes.
  • Experience in developing and designing packaging machinery, robotic based automation cells, and conveyor systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent attention to quality, accuracy, and detail oriented.
  • A proven ability to work under and achieve tight deadlines.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to understand and translate complex technical information into easy-to-read user documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships with others coupled with demonstrated experience of being a team player.
  • Able to travel to client sites when needed.
